Collecting pet items for Joplin tornado relief

As you all know by now, Joplin was hit by a large tornado yesterday. The Joplin Humane Society is doing their best to help with the relief, but they need more items. Columbia Canine Sports Center (located just east of the I-70/Hwy 63 interchange on I-70 Drive SE) is collecting items this week that the Vet School’s Shelter Club will deliver to Joplin.

If heading to Lizzi & Rocco’s is more convenient for you, you can drop items off at the shop and we’ll get them to the right people.

They are most in need of cardboard flats (for use for litter boxes) and bedding, but could also use collars, leashes, bowls, litter, and bottled water.

Thank you all!

Our church (First Presbyterian Church of
Harrison, Arkansas) is organizing a relief effort for the people of Joplin. Pets are often forgotten, but not by our family. I have a medium-size amount of dog and cat food ready to be shipped. Please let me know where it needs to be shipped.

    • Jeff, thanks so much for donating pet food! My best guess is to have it shipped to the Joplin Humane Society (140 E. Emperor Lane, Joplin, MO 64801), but you could also check with surrounding shelters to see if they’re also taking displaced animals.
